If you’ve been a customer of RAINE Clothing for a while, chances are, you probably already know how passionate we are about trying to make eco-friendly, sustainable clothing more accessible, something we discussed in a recent blog post on the barriers that currently exist in making eco-friendly clothing a viable option for everyone.
Naturally, one of the biggest factors as to why sustainable clothing options aren’t currently more widely available is due to the higher costs involved in the materials needed to make eco-friendly clothing – and that’s why, at RAINE Clothing, we’ve decided to start offering Clearpay as a payment option on all of our items.
What is Clearpay?
Simply put, Clearpay is a buy now, pay later payment option that’s available for UK-based adults over the age of 18 – having this option at RAINE Clothing means that, as our customers, you’ll now have the option to split the cost of your order over four payments. It’s an interest-free payment option, meaning you’ll only pay the value of your actual order, which we hope will make it easier for you to manage your purchases with us!
With Clearpay, once your order has been approved, you’ll pay for your order in instalments every two weeks, making paying for your order as stress-free as possible.
It’s worth noting that, when you first place your order and select Clearpay at the checkout, you’ll be taken to a sign up page on the Clearpay website, where the company will run a soft credit check to ensure that your current lending isn’t outside of your means, and that the repayments are affordable for you. You’ll be told whether you’re able to pay with Clearpay immediately, so you won’t have to wait for a response, and can place your order straight away once accepted.

Can I use Clearpay on any purchases made through the RAINE Clothing website?
We don’t have any limitations on which items you can purchase with Clearpay at RAINE Clothing – whether the item is on sale or fully priced, you’ll always be given the option to purchase it with Clearpay. However, you may be subjected to some limits imposed by Clearpay itself when placing your order – for example, if you have a pre-existing account and have made other purchases through Clearpay or are currently paying something off through them, you might not be able to place orders over a certain value, or may have to make more repayments through them. As we mentioned above, Clearpay does perform a soft credit check on anyone using their platform, so will base your total order allowance on what they feel is an affordable amount for you to repay, as a responsible lender.
What can be done to make eco-friendly, sustainable clothing more affordable long-term?
Of course, whilst we’re very pleased to be able to offer you this payment option to make purchasing eco-friendly, sustainable fashion more affordable, at RAINE Clothing we’re very dedicated to trying to make sure sustainable options are more accessible in the long-term, too. As we mentioned in both our ‘is slow fashion accessible’ blog post and our blog post on eco-friendly, organic cotton, the best way to ensure that sustainable fabrics and clothing becomes more affordable is simply to increase the demand for it.
This means that, the more of us who choose to support sustainable clothing, and purchase it where possible, increasing demand for eco-friendly options, the more eco-friendly fabrics and clothing will be produced, lowering the cost and making it easier for everyone to opt for more sustainable options.
